Rotary Zones 23/24 Literacy Task Force Initiative

Purposes:
(1) Chair and coordinate the 2007 Zone Institute plenary session on Literacy.
(2) Develop a supportive, explorative and collaborative venture with the Rotary International Literacy Task Force Zone Coordinators for Zones 23 and 24 to advance the needs of literacy programs throughout the Zones.
(3) Formulate specific, effective literacy project proposals for the Zone 23 and 24 Governors and District Literacy Chairs to use to increase literacy project effectiveness and literacy activities in their Districts and in that regard, provide a ready resource for District Literacy Chairs to use for project identification, information and selection.
(4) Coordinate an assessment of the current types of literacy programs being offered throughout Zones 23 and 24 and a directory of District Literacy Chairs.
(5) Develop an objective follow-up evaluation through District reporting on the effectiveness of each project used to enable more finite project recommendations in the future.
(6) Attempt to establish a Zone 23/24 Literacy Model Program based upon the evaluation results and other objective measures.
